@starry-p Oh, absolutely, I'm not suggesting you do something that's not authentic to you. But maybe there are things out there with fairly big fandoms that you like as well that you can try to tap into, or there are some other ways to combine your interests with those of other people (for example crossovers, mashups, style challenges, etc.)
There is a saying among webcomic artists that making a webcomic is only 50% of the work, the other 50% is marketing, and I think this applies to almost every creative field. But that doesn't mean that has to suck, you can still have fun with it, or use it as a way to train your creative muscles.
I’ll keep this in mind, a good strategy never hurt anybody :3c

I'm sorry. It can be hard to gain traction here (or almost anywhere, really) if you make things that appeal to a more niche audience. I think it's a very relatable struggle for artists who mostly draw OC's (as opposed to fanart, for instance).
I think a lot of people who have a fairly large fanbase of their own get that fanbase in part by making fanart of large or popular fandoms, between working on their own projects. Would this be something you'd be open to trying?

I’ve thought about this for like years but I just don’t like doing stuff unless it’s fun for me. So if I made fanart it would purely be because I really wanted to and not for any other reason.
However I do think this is good advice!
